Last week's fresh snow on top of layers of solid packed machine-made snow was like frosting on a cake to the folks who flock to the popular Four Lakes Alpine Snowsports ski hill in Lisle each winter. The fresh layer of natural snow opened all five trails.

Cheapest skiing in the East?
Skiers were loving several inches of fresh powder at Fayston, Vermont's Mad River Glen. The ski area is famous for its historic single-chair lift. It had a heavy workload Tuesday because of the price charged back at the ticket counter. Ticket sellers were asking only $3.50 for a lift pass.
